CHOCOLATE PLAYDOUGH EGGS - 2 WAYS
There's nothing quite like spending an afternoon crafting with the whole family to establish meaningful Easter traditions and watch their little hands and minds get busy creating. These simple ideas are as inexpensive as they are fun and they are excellent for building and strengthening fine motor skills in little hands.
Below are two lovely, sensory activities for you to do with your little ones or to give to your loved ones as a thoughtful eco-friendly Easter gift.
To get started, you will need:
+ Chocolate playdough (recipe below)
+ Foraged treasures from nature collected in your gathering basket
+ Rolling pin
+ Half egg shells
+ 1 x empty egg carton (keep whole or halve)
CHOCOLATE PLAYDOUGH RECIPE
Ingredients:
+ 1 cup of cocoa/cacao powder
+ 2 cups of plain flour
+ 1 cup salt
+ 2 tbsp oil
+ 1.5 tsp cream of tartar
+ 2 cups of water
Method:
+ Mix all ingredients in a saucepan over a low heat and stir until playdough combines together.
+ Turn off the heat, allow to cool and knead for 1 minute.
You may like to add essential oils for added smells or bio glitter for texture when kneading.
CHOCOLATE EGG CARTON CREATION
+ Put a small amount of playdough at the bottom of the egg shell.
+ Poke your nature treasures into the playdough for decoration and rest inside the egg carton.
+ Roll the remaining chocolate playdough into larger egg shapes and rest into the carton to fill.
If you are giving the play dough as a gift, you may like to wrap it up in a beeswax wrap to prevent it drying out.
DECORATIVE PLAYDOUGH EASTER EGGS
+ Roll a handful of the dough into a flat egg shape.
+ Use your nature treasures to decorate in any pattern you desire.

These look amazing!
My girls and I tried the eggs in a carton activity today and they absolutely loved it! They played for so long making so many creations!
They are still a little young (4yrs & younger) to fully appreciate this activity but just love sensory play!
Will be one I continue at Easter for years and years x
What a beautiful addition having an activity for us to try. I can’t wait for us to do this!
